Meet the Director

Scott Clark grew up in a musical family. His mother was a church organist in churches throughout the United States and in Europe. Both of his brothers played guitar and sang in numerous churches. Scott began playing piano while in elementary school and eventually shifted his focus to trumpet in middle school.  

After high school, Scott continued his education at the University of South Carolina. While in the school of music at USC, Scott played in numerous ensembles including the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Left Bank Jazz Band. In 1989, he received a Bachelor of Music Education degree.  

As a player, Scott has had the opportunity to play with a variety of groups and ensembles throughout the years. These groups include the Columbia Brass Band, O’Kaysions Beach Band, The Columbia Community Band and currently The Palmetto Concert Band. Scott has also served as a trumpet soloist in several churches in the midlands as well as several performances of Handel’s Messiah. Other musical ventures include managing a String Quartet named Simply Strings as well as a Brass Quintet named Lexington Brass, of which Scott is also a playing member.

In 1991, Scott felt the call to begin serving the Lord through Instrumental Music Ministry. Scott has served as Orchestra Director at Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce, SC and Lexington Baptist Church in Lexington, SC and is currently at Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Irmo, SC. Scott has also served as a guest clinician for the South Carolina Baptist Convention.  

Scott and his wife, Linda, have 3 children and reside in Lexington, SC.
